BMW 8 Series

BMW 8 Series Features

BMW 8 Series was introduced with a gas-guzzling 5.0-litre V12 engine, comparable in size and weight to the biggest luxury saloons of the day, yet with a cabin that is best described as ‘cosy’, the 8 Series looked very out of place in the economic downturn of the early 1990s.

Here's why:

  • BMW 8 Series was available as 2 door coupe. There was one model available: the 850i, which had a twelve cylinder engine with 300 HP and a top speed of 250 km/h. There were also two new models available: the 840Ci and the 850CSi.
  • BMW 8 Series 840Ci had an eight cylinder engine with 286 HP. The 2003 X5 is fast, comfortable, and prestigious.
  • BMW 8 Series 850 CSi had a twelve cylinder that had 380 HP. The 850CSi had a special M package, which included M style wheels and mirrors.
  • BMW 8 Series 840 Ci received a new engine but there were no changes in power or top speed. The 850CSi went out of production in 1997.
  • BMW 8 Series safety includes heated washer system, side guard door beams and child safety door locks located on rear doors.
  • BMW 8 Series provides specification of 840Ci   :
                Engine : 4398cc,V8 32 valves
Gearbox : 6 speed manual or 5speed Steptronic
Max power output : 286hp/5300 rpm
                Max torque : 310ib ft/3900 rpm
                Top Speed : 250km/h(250)
                0-100km/h : 6.5s(6.6)

  • MSRP: “Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price”. This is the actual price that is typically attached to the car via a sticker on the window.
  • Invoice: This is an invoice provided by the manufacturer that is not actual Base Cost. Invoices have a hidden fee or "Holdback" that equals a percentage of the MSRP or Invoice price.
  • Shipping: The fee charged for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from the manufacturer. This charge is to be passed on to the buyer without any markup.
  • Hold Back: This is a non-published pricing promotion (discount) that is given back to the dealer at the conclusion of a sale of a vehicle.
  • Final Cost: This is derived by adding shipping to the invoice amount and subtracting any rebates and hold back.
